Downey out, Burrell in Dreamwork’s Mr Peabody and Sherman

Ty Burrell, star of MODERN FAMILY, will be portraying the canine title character in Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN.

Just last year it was reported that Robery Downey Jr. would be portraying the genius dog, Mr. Peabody, for LION KING director Rob Minkoff.  Obviously RDJ is in very high demand for multiple franchises, so a replacement would have to be found.

MR PEABODY AND SHERMAN will be based on the Jay Ward cartoon that was featured on the old Rocky and Bullwinkle show.  The setup is that Mr. Peabody, the world’s smartest creature, and his pet boy, Sherman, use their time-travelling WABAC machine to explore history and inadvertently cause chaos in the space time continuum.

Burrell is currently starring in one of the top rated shows on television, but has also made appearances in THE INCREDIBLE HULK and Zack Snyder’s DAWN OF THE DEAD.  He is a funny guy and perfectly tailored for this type of role.

MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN is already set for release on March 14, 2014.
