Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts, Netflix

Earlier today during Dreamworks Animation's presentation at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, the studio announced that they'll soon be joining the Fast & Furious family thanks to their upcoming Netflix animated series FAST & FURIOUS: SPY RACERS. Gearing up to expand the high-octane action franchise like never before,  FAST & FURIOUS: SPY RACERS is an all-new animated series that will center on a teenager Tony Toretto, who follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination. Tim Hedrick (Voltron Legendary Defender) and Bret Haaland (All Hail King Julien) will serve as executive producers and showrunners. The series is also executive produced by Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan; and is slated to debut globally on Netflix later this year.

In addition to unveiling the new Fast animated series, Dreamworks also debuted a teaser trailer for the new project:

As Dreamworks' presentation continued, the studio that brought you animated franchises like HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, KUNG FU PANDA, TROLL HUNTERS, and much, more more, shared that another animated series by the name of KIPO & THE AGE OF THE WONDERBEASTS is also headed to Netflix. Set for a 2020 release, the series stars Karen Fukuhara (SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER) as the voice of Kipo.

Here's the official synopsis for KIPO & THE AGE OF THE WONDERBEASTS:

After spending her entire life living in an underground burrow, a young girl named Kipo is thrust into an adventure on the surface of a fantastical post-apocalyptic Earth. She joins a ragtag group of survivors as they embark on a journey through a vibrant wonderland where everything trying to kill them is downright adorable. The series is executive produced and created by Radford Sechrist (How to Train Your Dragon 2) and executive produced and developed for TV by Bill Wolkoff (Once Upon a Time).

With Netflix snagging new and original properties for its animation offerings, one might suspect that they're preparing for war against the launch of Disney+ this November. Netflix has always had quality animated selections, but now with shows like JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS, FAST & FURIOUS: SPY RACERS, KIPO & THE AGE OF THE WONDERBEASTS, and others coming down the pike, I've no doubt that both platforms will come out swinging as we barrel toward a very exciting and animated 2020. Bring them all on, I say. My wallet is ready.
