The Lookout August 14

I looked forward to Scott Frank’s directorial debut and wasn’t disappointed at all. Frank, other than having that weird two first name thing, wrote two of the best Elmore Leonard screen adaptations ever with GET SHORTY and OUT OF SIGHT (no, I’m not forgetting JACKIE BROWN). Joseph Gordon Levitt has turned himself into a pretty good actor who, as my lady friend put it, is “easy on the loins.” Last time I sneak the little C-U-N-Tuesday into a rated R flick.

Includes:

  • 2.40:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English and French DD5.1 Surround
  • English, French and Spanish subtitles
  • “Behind the Mind of Chris Pratt” – A feature exploring Joseph Gordon Levitt’s critically-acclaimed portrayal of the main character
  • “Sequencing The Lookout“ – Making-of featurette
  • Audio Commentaries – By writer/director Scott Frank and director of photography Alar Kivilo

Year of the Dog August 28

Mike White and Molly Shannon seems like a perfect comedy pairing in theory. So did it execute “the funny”? Chime in if you’ve seen DOG. I was going to say that I haven’t seen her in anything in a while but then I looked her up at IMDB and holy schneikies was I wrong. Oh well. Book ’em Dan-o I’m FIVE-OH. Fifty years old. Ahh, the good ol’ days.

Includes:

  • Commentary with writer/director Mike White and Molly Shannon
  • A Special Breed of Comedy: The Making of Year of the Dog
  • Being Molly Shannon
  • Mike White Unleashed
  • Special Animal Unit
  • 7 Deleted Scenes with optional commentary by Mike White
  • Insert Reel
  • Gag Reel
  • Moviefone Unscripted with Molly Shannon and Mike White

Meet the Robinsons October 23

So far in my movie going experiences, 3D flicks never really got me into a flick. Especially with those awful blue and red 3D glasses that made everything look like shit. Stupid blue and red 3D glasses. Going to see ROBINSONS in 3D at the theatre was one of the coolest flicks to see ever. Ever? Well, it’s up there. It sounds tool-ish but shit was really coming at you when watching it in 3D. Now the question is, what the hell was I doing there anyway?

Includes:

  • 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio
  • English, French and Spanish language tracks
  • Audio Commentary by Director Stephen Anderson (with a special guest appearance)
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Keep Moving Forward: Inventions that Shaped the World – Meet real life inventors and visionary thinkers (including Walt Disney, himself) who changed the world and our lives forever.
  • Music Videos
  • Family Function 5000: Family Tree Game – Lewis’ new invention organizes his enormous family tree so he can keep track of his family to be.
  • Inventing the Robinsons – Follow the development of the film from William Joyce’s original creations through the animation process and production.

Taxi Driver August 14

As Dr. Nick would say, “bad neewwws.” Looks as though there is no Martin Scorsese feature commentary. Good news, here’s the bad ass packaging for the new, but limited special collector’s edition. You take the good, you take the bad…bla bla bla the end.

  • Travis’ New York Locations – Featurette – An interactive map with visits to the famous New York City locations in 2006, while comparing them to the same locations in 1975
  • Storyboard to Film Comparisons with Martin Scorsese Introduction
  • New Feature-length Commentary by Writer Paul Schrader
  • New Feature-length Commentary by Professor Robert Kolker
  • Taxi Driver Stories – Featurette
  • Making Taxi Driver Documentary
