Eddie an Island man

Paramount might not think much of 'em but you gotta give IESB.net some credit this morning for their Eddie Murphy/FANTASY ISLAND scoop. They reported the news back in March and today The Hollywood Reporter confirms the news that Murphy is attached to star in an ISLAND remake that is being written by Jay Scherick and David Ronn (NORBIT). As with NORBIT, Murphy would play multiple roles in the film, very likely both the Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villechaize roles. Murphy's got a pretty busy schedule these days so it's unclear when he'd exactly fit in FANTASY. He's also attached to a Brett Ratner comedy with Chris Rock, a Romeo and Juliet type story where he plays the father, teh fantasy NOWHERELAND and the rumored BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 (not to mention all the assorted SHREK stuff). Murphy is currently filming STARSHIP DAVE for Fox where he - wait for it - plays numerous roles.

Extra Tidbit: Villechaize quit before the final FANTASY season and was replaced by none other than Mr. Belvedere himself Christopher Hewitt.
