Eight new Black Mass clips show that Johnny Depp is back in fine form

The first reviews of Scott Cooper's BLACK MASS have heralded it as one of Johnny Depp's finest performances as well as a welcome return to form for the once compelling actor. Warner Bros. have released a handful of new clips for the film, along with a featurette and some B-roll footage, which show off just how completely unnerving Johnny Depp's transformation into James “Whitey” Bulger really is.

In addition to Johnny Depp's return to form, BLACK MASS has assembled an incredible group of talent, including Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, and Corey Stoll, who seem to be turning in great performances themselves. I've got my fingers crossed that BLACK MASS will be as good as I'm hoping it will be.

A synopsis for BLACK MASS:

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

BLACK MASS hits theaters on September 18, 2015.
