Escape Plan’s Matt Gerald gets a villainous role in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man

Deadline is reporting another actor has joined Marvel's ANT-MAN, and it's Matt Gerald. The actor isn't a household name, but he's appeared in a few films, including ESCAPE PLAN, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, RED DAWN, and AVATAR, and played White Power Dave in the Marvel One-Shot ALL HAIL THE KING.

There's no word on if Gerald will be reprising his role from the One-Shot, but according to Deadline, he will be playing an unspecified villain in Edgar Wright's upcoming film. Matt Gerald is just the latest addition to Marvel's film, with Patrick Wilson, Evangeline Lilly and House of Cards' Corey Stoll all officially joining the project in the past month or so. We still aren't sure what Edgar Wright's plans are for his movie, but casting has been solid so far, and I can't wait to see what the talented director will do with Marvel's tiny (and sometimes not so tiny) hero.

Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are set to star as Scott Lang and Hank Pym, respectively. Pym is a biochemist who discovers subatomic particles that allow him to shrink to insect size (and later, grow, into Giant-Man), as well as control ants. Lang, a reformed thief and electronics expert, comes along years later and uses Pym's technology to inhabit the superhero character.

Edgar Wright's ANT-MAN also stars Michael Pena, and will be in theaters on July 17th, 2015.
