Evan Peters cast as Jeffrey Dahmer in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix limited series

Ryan Murphy has gone to one of his go-to actors to lead his upcoming Netflix limited series and it's bound to entice fans of true crime and true crime documentaries. Evan Peters has been set to play Jeffrey Dahmer in Ryan Murphy's Netflix limited series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The series is co-created with one of Murhpy's longtime collaborators Ian Brennan. 

Ryan Murphy has also pulled another performer from his TV universe to join the limited series as Niecy Nash is also set to star. The cast also includes Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown, Colin Ford, and Richard Jenkins. The limited series with put a focus on one of America's most notorious serial killers and it will largely be told from the perspective of his victims. Monster will dive deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed Dahmer to go on a multi-year killing spree. At least ten instances where Dahmer was almost apprehended will be dramatized and the show will also touch on the perceived white privilege that went on at them as Dahmer, who was a clean-cut, good-looking white guy, was repeatedly given a free pass by cops as well as by judges who were lenient when he was charged with petty crimes.

Penelope Ann Miller and Richard Jenkins will pay Dahmer's mother Joyce and father, Lionel respectively, while Niecy Nash plays a role that is considered the female lead, Glenda Cleveland, a neighbor of Dahmer's who called the police several times and even tried to alert the FBI about Dahmer's erratic behavior but was ultimately ignored. 

Shaun J. Brown will play Dahmer's last intended victim, Tracy. This role is significant because Tracy fought back and managed to escape and lead the police to Dahmer's apartment, ultimately resulting in his arrest. Colin Ford is on deck to play Chaz but a detailed character description for Chaz was not provided as of this writing.

Evan Peters has been a great player in Ryan Murphy's acting arsenal. He has been a regular presence on Murphy's American Horror Story since the anthology series first began and, while the only season he missed out on was 1984, Peters will be back for the newest installment of the popular FX horror series. He most recently recurred on WandaVision.

I have my qualms about Ryan Murphy at times but he does true-crime series really well. The Assassination of Gianni Versace was an excellent limited crime series courtesy of Ryan Murphy and perhaps Peters will have the same luck that another Murphy mainstay had on that series. Darren Criss, who first worked with Murphy on Glee, went on to win an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for his riveting and chilling portrayal of Andrew Cunanan.
