Focus Features has shared an emotional and inspiring trailer for ON THE BASIS OF SEX, a biographical drama based one of the earliest cases taken on by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In the film, Felicity Jones plays a young Ginsburg, who fights against gender discrimination during the controversial case of Weinberger v. Wiesenfeld. While going against all odds, Ginsburg argued before the Supreme Court in 1975 that a widower denied his wife’s survivor benefits under Social Security violated the right to equal protection secured by the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The case is widely known as one of Ginsburg's finest, as well as a milestone for women in the courtroom.

ON THE BASIS OF SEX is directed by Mimi Leder (THE LEFTOVERS) from a script by Daniel Stiepleman. Starring alongside Jones in the drama are Armie Hammer (THE SOCIAL NETWORK), CALL ME BY YOUR NAME), Justin Theroux (MULLHOLLAND DR, AMERICAN PSYCHO), Kathy Bates (MISERY, DOLORES CLAIBORNE) , Cailee Spaeny (BAD TIMES AT THE EL DORADO), and Stephen Root (O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?, OFFICE SPACE).

ON THE BASIS OF SEX has set a date of December 25th to arrive in theaters.
