Female-led Greatest American Hero reboot on the way!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO is one of those cult gems that more people should know about. It wasn't perfect, and definitely dated, but it was a lot better than its premise had any right to be, which "chronicles Ralph's adventures after a group of aliens gives him a red and black suit that grants him superhuman abilities. Unfortunately for Ralph, who hates wearing the suit, he immediately loses its instruction booklet, and thus has to learn how to use its powers by trial and error, often with comical results." Also it has one of the best theme songs ever.

Now, like all things 80s, there's a remake on the way. However, according to Deadline:

[T]he re-imagining of Greatest American Hero centers on Meera, a 30-year-old Indian-American woman from Cleveland whose talents include tequila drinking, karaoke and not much else. Then some aliens entrust her with a super suit to protect the planet, and the world has never been in more unreliable hands.

Sounds good to me! Like I said, the original is actually pretty fun, and goes to some surprisingly dark places as well. I was honestly pretty shocked about how sincere and earnest the it was, but I feel the cheesy effects and overall '80s TV goofiness have put some people off from giving it a chance. Maybe this show could be a good gateway drug for it, if nothing else. Either way, I'm looking forward to it!

So any fans of the original out there? And if so, how do you feel about the reboot? Either way, sound off below!
