First glimpse of Laverne Cox in The Rocky Horror Picture Show unveiled

It's going to be interesting to see how well THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW comes together when it's remade for broadcast on Fox later this year. After all, without the communal experience that typically goes with an all-out presentation of the musical, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW loses a bit of its luster. But Laverne Cox is going to do her best to hold your interest, taking her ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK star power and thrusting it (both literally and figurately) into the iconic role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a character made famous by Tim Curry many years ago.

Today, we got our first look at Cox as the "Sweet Transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania," and she looks pretty solid out of the gate. Of course, there are going to be those who criticize any sort of changes made to the part, like the fact that now the good Doctor has breasts, but what those ignorant fools fail to remember is that Dr. Frank-N-Furter has been played by all sorts of people, in all sorts of sizes and shapes and sexes even, over the years when it comes to shadow casts of the show. Therefore, as long as Cox brings the attitude, the acting chops and the singing voice to hold her own, the new take on THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW should be just fine.
