First trailer for Identity Thief starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy steals its way online

Yesterday we saw the debut of two new posters for IDENTITY THIEF, the upcoming comedy starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy and now we have the first trailer for the film.  Directed by Seth Gordon (HORRIBLE BOSSES) the story revolves around McCarthy's character stealing the identity of Bateman's, causing the straight-laced businessman to travel to Florida and confront her.  However, McCarthy proves to be more than a mere "Hobbit" and proceeds to whup the shit out of Bateman at every turn.

Strangely, I was reminded of THE BOUNTY HUNTER with Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston while watching this, but not in a bad way.  It was as if they had recast the movie with people who were actually funny.

Take a look:

This looks pretty fun.  This is McCarthy's first post-BRIDESMAIDS role, which I'm sure she's hoping will continue her hot streak.  Bateman is a reliable actor, not to mention the most unlikely guy to have such a successful career today.  If you'd asked me during the TEEN WOLF TOO days, I would have predicted obscurity.  Now, the guy is killing it.  It's an unlikely pairing, but inspired as well.

IDENTITY THIEF, starring Bateman, McCarthy, Jon Favreau, John Cho, Amanda Peet, Genesis Rodriguez, Robert Patrick, Morris Chestnut, and Clark Duke is slated to hit theaters on February 8, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Do you think McCarthy has staying power?
