First trailer and poster for The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Emma Watson and Logan Lerman arrives

Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of his own novel, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, now has a poster and trailer to share. Starring Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman, Ezra Miller, and Paul Rudd, the novel is about a “withdrawn teen who attempts to remain hopeful for the future while dreading every day of the present.”  So, y’know, pretty much about every teenager to some degree.  I mean, who amongst us wasn’t awkward in some way during high school?

Hang with the popular kids:

And, here’s the poster:

I’m interested in this, but it’s not something I’ll catch in theaters.  I know that this has a built in audience with the teen crowd as it’s kind of become a “voice” to them in many ways, with many teachers making it required reading in schools today (albeit a controversial move).  It’ll be good to see Emma Watson break out of the Hermione mold.  She’s a talented actress and I think she’s choosing the right material to continue her career with this project, as well as Sofia Coppola’s THE BLING RING.

I’m interested to hear what the younger Schmoe’s have to say about this.  Yay or nay?

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER opens on September 14, 2012.
