First undead trailer for romantic zombie comedy Life After Beth

If there is any genre more popular than zombies right now, I would like to know what it is. Unlike vampires, there are a lot of alterations and changes you can make to the living dead plot device. The most recent one is the romantic zombie comedy, kickstarted by Edgar Wright's SHAUN OF THE DEAD. The latest film in that trend is LIFE AFTER BETH.

Starring Aubrey Plaza, Dane DeHaan, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Anna Kendrick, and Paul Reiser, LIFE AFTER BETH looks like it could actually be a pretty funny movie with some decent zombie effects. The first trailer has premiered over at MTV and you can check it out below.

DeHaan plays Zach Orfman, a guy mourning the unexpected death of his girlfriend Beth (Plaza). Zach discovers that Beth has come back to life, and they are able to pick up their relationship where it had been cut short — with a few small changes. Namely, Beth is now a zombie, and she has to do zombie things, like eat people.

LIFE AFTER BETH premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and garnered pretty good reviews. Now, we will get a chance to scare up some more business in limited release later this summer. I like DeHaan and Plaza in their previous film work so this should be at least somewhat enjoyable. I am also always up for a good zombie movie and having John C. Reilly is a definite plus.

LIFE AFTER BETH will premiere in limited release on August 15th.
