Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Johnny Depp

Even when they became increasingly and needlessly convoluted, there was still a soft spot in my cold dead heart for Gore Verbinski's PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequels. You just had to admire all of the craziness on display. Unfortunately Johnny Depp's pirate shtick finally grew tiresome for me in Rob Marshall's ON STRANGER TIDES, a film which, despite having the largest budget of all the PIRATES movies, including the upcoming DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, somehow felt small and cheap to me. That said, I'm open to Disney and Johnny Depp winning me over once again, and what we've seen from the upcoming PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES from Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (KON-TIKI) has definitely piqued my interest.

Disney has released a brand-new poster for the film, which you can see below, as well as announcing that we'll be seeing a new trailer for DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES tomorrow. We're not sure exactly when that will land, but we'll have it up here on JoBlo just as soon as it does!

If you look closely at the poster you'll find that there won't just be ghost pirates in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, but ghost sharks as well! AMC Theaters debuted the following concept art for the upcoming PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequel and the ghost sharks, which we caught a brief glimpse of in the last trailer, certainly do look creepy.

The official synopsis for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea… including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES will hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
