Gangster Squad cast continues to impress, adds Giovanni Ribisi to the mix

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The GANGSTER SQUAD continues to grow as new and talented actors keep getting thrown into the mix. The period crime drama from 30 MINUTES OR LESS director Ruben Fleischer just last week added “Breaking Bad” actor Bryan Cranston, and now Deadline reports that Giovanni Ribisi (TED, THE RUM DIARY) has landed a co-starring role.

Ribisi will play ‘Conway Keeler’, “a cop in the group who is a master of electronics and wires.” Apart from Ribisi and Cranston, the cast includes the likes of Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Michael Peña, and Sean Penn who will play Jewish mobster ‘Mickey Cohen’. The film “is the fact-based tale of the crime fighting exploits of a squad of elite Los Angeles officers in the 1940s charged with stopping [Cohen] and other mobsters.”

Ribisi is currently filming on Seth MacFarlane’s feature directorial debut TED alongside Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, which will be out next summer. But you can catch him before that once THE RUM DIARY (finally) hits theaters this October.
