Garrett Hedlund confirms he will return for Tron 3

TRON: LEGACY was a welcome return to the Grid after a very long absence. While it was not perfect, it was visually stunning. What it lacked in story was more than made up for with the effects. Disney was obviously hoping for it to be the start to a franchise and now we know they will be continuing the story started in TRON: LEGACY and not going off on a new adventure.

TRON: LEGACY star Garrett Hedlund recently told NEXTMOVIE.com that he would be reprising the role of Sam Flynn for the sequel that is expected to go into production some time in 2014.

“Yeah,” Hedlund said when we pressed him for details on his “Tron” participation while doing press in New York ahead of the U.S. release of “On the Road.” “Are we gonna break this now?”

“Disney’s very excited,” he said of the project. “That’s about that. You know, yeah, I’m very excited, Disney’s very excited.”

TRON 3, or whatever it will be called, may be written by Jesse Wigutow while joseph Kosinski is coming back to direct. Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz scripted TRON: LEGACY and are not likely to return seeing as they have their hands full with their hit series ONCE UPON A TIME at ABC.

My only condition for TRON 3 is that it not be as sterile and cold as TRON: LEGACY. I know it is inside a computer, but show some emotion. If the ending of LEGACY is any indication, we may see the collision of our world and the game world, which could be cool.
