Get your first glimpse of Star Wars in 3D next week before Three Musketeers

I’ll be honest – I was one of those guys who paid to go see WING COMMANDER in 1999 just to see the trailer for THE PHANTOM MENACE and left before the movie even started. At the time, it was $7.50 well-spent. Then about two months later THE PHANTOM MENACE hit theaters and, well, that $7.50 did not seem like money well spent. So as the trailer for the 3D re-release of PHANTOM MENACE hits theaters next week, I have a feeling I won’t be plunking down cash just to see it in the theater.

The 3D version of PHANTOM is set to hit theaters in February and the trailer, also in 3D, will be run before THE THREE MUSKETEERS starting next Friday. It will be the first public glimpse of STAR WARS footage in 3D and despite the many protests of fanboys who hate George Lucas for his many tinkerings and double-dips, will likely have people whipped up into a frenzy regardless.

I’m sure the trailer will pop up online some time next week as well but considering the whole point of the thing is to, you know, see it in 3D, I’m not sure what the point of watching it online would be.

So if you must relive the pain of 1999 over again in another dimension, check out the new trailer and prepare yourself for Februrary…
