Godzilla sequel gets new title that reveals what the plot might be

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Man, I'm f*cking pumped for the GODZILLA sequel! While I was lukewarm about the initial remake by Gareth Edwards (not enough action because I'm apparently a perpetual 12-year old boy) the sequel seems to be changing all that.

In a press release Legendary Pictures unleashed the new title for the film: GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS.

Holy shit.

Now, the fact that Godzilla would be fighting multiple recognizable monsters in the sequel (rumored to be King Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra)  isn't exactly new news, but the title at least confirms it. And, as a perpetual 12-year old, I am so excited about this I think I'll take out all my figurines and go to the playground to have them fight! Restraining orders get lifted at some point, right?

The press release also mentioned that the PACIFIC RIM sequel is now PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING (no longer MAELSTROM) and that DETECTIVE PIKACHU is still, unfortunately, a thing.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, directed by Michael Dougherty, will stomp into theaters March 22nd, 2019.
