Goyer talks Bat-3

Batman bombing someone special...

What the frog is going on with Batman 3? Just when everybody had pretty much accepted the fact that no sequel to DARK KNIGHT would even be considered for a long while, Gary Oldman steps into San Diego and puts us through a roller coaster by first saying the film will be out 2 years from now, then backtracks into a gee-whiz wishful thinking defence.

The folks of MTV decided to get to the almost bottom of it by asking scribe David Goyer who’s a pretty safe bet to co-write the third having done so on the two quite-successful previous. “Right now, Chris is involved in filming INCEPTION,” says Goyer, “and when he finishes that, he will turn his studious gaze back to the Bat universe and we’ll see.” If anybody knows, it’d be the co-writer. Unless he’s full of it and playing us all. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

Quick math: Nolan surely won’t have any grey matter to spare on either story nor pre-production before late 2010; add to that one more year for shooting, post-prod and marketing, and you don’t have anything until Summer 2012, at least. And that’s if no one involved takes a breather from their busy scheds before going Bat-sh*t again. My two cents: no Bat-3 before 2013.
