Elizabeth Debicki cast in voice role for Luc Besson’s Valerian

We don’t need to wait and see VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS to know it’s an absolute visual extravaganza with gorgeous visual effects glistening in every frame. Needless to say they will be working until the last second to get it all ready, which includes hiring new actors to do some voice work, and you could say their latest hire is solid gold.

Variety is reporting that GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 and MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. actress Elizabeth Debicki has been hired to voice one of the characters in VALERIAN. There are no specifics as to who or what she’s voicing, but after hearing her give the business to the likes of Henry Cavill and Chris Pratt I’m sure we’ll be able to point her out.

In those last two aforementioned films Debicki played the villains Ayesha and Victoria Vinciguerra respectively, with the former requiring her to be completely covered in gold. Chances are she won’t be playing a bad guy this late in the game, so luckily she’s probably able to switch things up a bit.

I like Debicki in what I’ve seen her in, and hopefully she gets a greater variety of roles in the future. She has an alluring voice to match her presence and elegance, so picking her for any kind of vocal work is an inspired choice. In that regard I assume they cast her as some giant, god-like alien creature that rules over each of the planets. That, or for the sake of switching things up they cast her as a giant slug. That certainly counts as variety.

VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS arrives July 21.
