Guillermo Del Toro gives an update on The Haunted Mansion

Some time has passed since we last heard anything from Guillermo Del Toro’s live-action version of THE HAUNTED MANSION. Yes, there was already one with Eddie Murphy, but no one cares.

Del Toro sat down with Collider and gave this update:

“I delivered my last draft five weeks ago. I have a meeting with them in three weeks. I know they like the screenplay. I need to meet with them in three weeks. That’s what I know. I know their reaction to the draft was good. We have a bunch of conceptualist art, but you never know, to predict anything else is hard for me to know.”

Currently, Del Toro serves as writer and producer on the project. He thinks that the reason Disney is holding off has to do with the fact that they want him to direct as well. In regards to that he responded with, “I’m in the middle of Pacific Rim and I don’t know what I’m going to do next.”

It would be nice if Del Toro decided to direct the film as well. However, if they don’t get him, I’m sure there is someone else out there that can do the material that he has written justice. I for one, can’t wait to see what he has in-store.
