Harley Quinn animated series in the works for DC streaming service

Harley Quinn is ditchin’ her puddin’ and is finally getting her own show, baby!

Last night it was announced that the Batman villain everyone loves will be getting her own animated show on a currently untitled DC streaming service. The show has been picked up for 26 episodes and will be an adult-themed action comedy, with POWERLESS’ Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker acting as executive producers. The first concept image for the show was dropped, and in it, you can also see Poison Ivy, who will also have a role on the show.

The show will follow Quinn and a litany of other heroes and villains as she tries to become a Clown Princess of Crime after having left the Joker for good. This is the third series set up for the upcoming DC streaming service, including the live-action TITANS from Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and a revival of the animated YOUNG JUSTICE series.

The character made her live-action debut in the movie SUICIDE SQUAD, with actress Margot Robbie portraying the character to high acclaim. According to the reporter  Nellie Andreeva, Warner Bros. has Robbie at the top of the list to voice the character for the show, and the studio intends to approach her soon.

Harley Quinn is easily one of the most loved Batman characters out there, and she's only growing in popularity. It's the mixture of the voice, her quirky, volatile personality that makes her so fiendishly lovable. Her presence is a big reason why SQUAD did so well at the box office, and Robbie just crushed it in the role. I will probably be more interested to see Robbie play the role again on the big screen than on an animated show, but if she decides to do the voice work I may just have to tune in.
