Occasionally brilliant yet mostly inexplicably wooden former Sith Lord Hayden Christensen has joined the cast of the drama BEAST OF BATAAN. The film tells the real-life story of the trial of Japanese General Masaharu Homma, who was implicated in the 1942 Bataan Death March and tried for war crimes by U.S. Gen. Douglas MacArthur. The Bataan Death March occurred after the three-month Battle of Bataan during World War II and was said to cost the lives of 10,000 American and Filipino POW’s on a forced march to captivity. Christensen will be playing Homma’s young lawyer who tried to get Homma from receiving the death penalty. Koji Yakusho, who played the father of Rinko Kikuchi’s character in BABEL, is in negotiations to star as Homma with Willem Dafoe and William Hurt also looking to star. Christensen can next be seen in the Doug Liman directed action thriller JUMPER.
