Henry Cavill makes you swoon as he reads from The Witcher novels

Netflix has unleashed a new promo for THE WITCHER that features Henry Cavill reading from one of author Andrzej Sapkowski's novels upon which the upcoming series is based. In the video, a mild-mannered Cavill sits atop a brown leather armchair, an ornately-covered book in hand, and a tumbler of whiskey at the ready. As we settle into the story, Cavill reads from the book with dulcet tones. Before long, he introduces us to Geralt of Rivia, a white-haired hunter of monsters, crooked kings, and other things that poison the land upon which the assassin treads. As Geralt ventures further into a territory where he is unwelcome, one can't help but wonder what lies ahead, when THE WITCHER arrives on Netflix this December 20th.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, THE WITCHER is an epic tale of fate and family. The story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

THE WITCHER stars Henry Cavill  (MAN OF STEEL, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT) as Geralt of Rivia; Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg; and Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla, Lion Cub of Cintra. Filling out the remainder of the cast for Netflix's THE WITCHER are Jodhi May (GAME OF THRONES) as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (FORTITUDE) as Eist, Adam Levy (SNATCH, KNIGHTFALL) as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring (RIPPER STREET) as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni (BLACK EARTH RISING) as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read (PROFILE) as Sabrina, and Emma Appleton (THE END OF THE F**KING WORLD) as Renfri, Eamon Farren (TWIN PEAKS) as Cahir, Joey Batey (KNIGHTFALL) as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen (SHERLOCK, HOUSE OF CARDS) as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson (WANDERLUST) as Istredd, Maciej Musia (1983) as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (DICKESIAN) as Dara, and Anna Shaffer (HARRY POTTER) as Triss.

Here's the thing, folks. I have a running list of celebrities that I would love to hire in the interest of them reading me bedtime stories. Included on this list are people like Andre Braugher, Peter Stormare, Jeff Bridges, Tom Hiddleston, Josh Brolin, Helen Mirren, Octavia Spense, Alfre Woodard, Salma Hayek, and Rosario Dawson, among others. After watching this promo for THE WITCHER, and listening to Cavill's hypnotic vocals, I'm proud to say that he's officially on my list! Congratulations, Mr. Cavill.
