Here’s your first look at Colin Farrell in the Total Recall remake

As much as I love the original TOTAL RECALL from Paul Verhoeven, it’s hard to ignore the remake coming from Len Wiseman.

While I am a little sad about the exclusion of Mars from the plot, there’s something really exciting about Colin Farrell in the lead and Bryan Cranston as the villain.

The first photo from the film shows up in Entertainment Weekly, the same issue that shows off all the new Spidey photos. The image shows Colin Farrell as the lead, Doug Quaid and it looks like he’s been caught by the police. As far as any more details on the remake, all that was offered was this via thefilmstage.com:

“In the magazine, Farrell says “the tone will be much less jokey” than Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s 1990′s sci-fi hit. He says, “there’s not as much tongue-in-cheek” and that he wouldn’t feel comfortable delivering lines like ‘Consider dat a divorce!’”

“Welcome to Rekall, the company that with one little implant can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell), the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his ordinary existence. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. With the line between fantasy and reality blurred and the fate of his world hanging in the balance, Quaid goes on the run to discover his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. Based on Philip K. Dick’s classic story “I Can Remember It For You Wholesale,” this brand new take on some of his most visionary ideas is directed by Len Wiseman and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, John Cho and Bryan Cranston.”
