Highlander (1986) – Fantasizing About Fantasy Films

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In this episode of Fantasizing About Fantasy Films, we take a look back at one of the biggest cult classics of the eighties, Russell Mulcahy's Highlander. Although a flop upon its initial release, at least domestically, significant box office receipts in Europe, as well as fantastic home video sales, propelled this to franchise status. However, besides the TV show (starring Adrian Paul), none seem to hold a candle to the original film.

It starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, an immortal warrior forced to face other Immortals to win "The Prize." As his mentor, Ramirez, Sean Connery co-stars, while Clancy Brown plays the villain, the murderous Kurgan. Plus, Queen contributes a KILLER score, including classics such as "Who Wants to Live Forever," "Princes of the Universe," and more!
