Hulu announces Crossing Swords animated series from Robot Chicken producers

John Harvatine IV and Tom Root, the executive producers behind ROBOT CHICKEN, have announced that their new 10-episode animated series titled CROSSING SWORDS is coming to Hulu as part of the Hulu Originals slate in 2020.

CROSSING SWORDS will star Nicholas Hoult as Patrick, a good-hearted peasant who lands a coveted squire position at the royal castle.  His dream job quickly turns into a nightmare when he learns his beloved kingdom is run by a hornet’s nest of horny monarchs, crooks and charlatans.  Even worse, Patrick’s valor made him the black sheep in his family, and now his criminal siblings have returned to make his life hell. War, murder, full frontal nudity—who knew brightly colored peg people led such exciting lives?

Joining Hoult for the new animated comedy are Luke Evans, Seth Green, Tony Hale, Wendi McClendon-Covey, Breckin Meyer, Adam Pally, Adam Ray, Tara Strong and Alanna Ubach, several of which have been featured on the stop motion sketch comedy show ROBOT CHICKEN.

When CROSSING SWORDS comes to Hulu, it will do so as a part of the streaming network’s hosting of the complete series of ROBOT CHICKEN, as well as the launch of SOLAR OPPOSITES, a new animated comedy from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. CROSSING SWORDS will be brought you courtesy of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Full frontal nudity, you say? Peg people? What the hell is going on here? Although, I suppose that I should expect no less from the minds that gave us the comedic stop motion exploits of characters like He-Man Master of the Universe, the Justice League, Garfield and Friends, the Carebears and Strawberry Shortcake, just to name a few. In its prime, ROBOT CHICKEN provided a magnificent blend of both nostalgia and crass humor, which has me thinking that things bode well for CROSSING SWORDS, especially with so much top-tier talent involved. Let’s get it on!
