Hulu to transfix fans of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles with new TV series

According to a source close to The Wrap, Anne Rice's long-gestating VAMPIRE CHRONICLES TV series has finally found a place to feed with Hulu . Although the upcoming program has yet to secure a showrunner, it's known that Anne and her son Christopher Rice will act as executive producers on the project, in addition to Anonymous Content’s David Kanter and Steve Golin. This update to the show's status comes after Paramount Television and Anonymous Content purchased the rights to 11 of Rice's "Vampire Chronicle" novels in 2017.

“It is undeniable that Anne Rice has created the paradigm against which all vampire stories are measured. The rich and vast world she has created with ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ is unmatched and sophisticated with 90’s gothic undertones that will be perfectly suited to captivate audiences,” said Amy Powell, president, Paramount TV, in a statement. “The series is full of compelling characters led by Lestat, arguably one of the greatest original characters, literary or otherwise. We are thrilled to collaborate with Anne, Christopher and the team at Anonymous Content on this epic series.”

When the VAMPIRE CHRONICLES sinks its teeth into Hulu subscribers, an open-ended version of Rice's "The Vampire Lestat" novel will serve as the launching pad for other stories, should the show become a success. This is sure to delight fans of the 1994 original film INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, which starred Brad Pitt, Tom Cruis, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and a young Kirsten Dunst. As work continues on the development of VAMPIRE CHRONICLES, it's worth noting that Rice has published over 30 novels for fans of the supernatural genre to enjoy. In fact, if you'd like to venture outside of Rice's vampire fare, might I suggest that you read The Witching Hour? The novel begins the tale of a family of witches, and a spirit that has guided their fortunes for generations. It's quite creepy, and will take you outside the realm of the vampires Lestat de Lioncourt, Louis de Pointe du Lac and Claudia.
