I Want That – Mad Max: Fury Road Power Wheels

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I never had Power Wheels as a kid.

Go ahead and shed a tear for my deprived childhood, but I never lived in an area that was conducive to having a motorized ride to get my young legs around the neighborhood. As a result, I only ever got to desire them from afar, checking out TV commercials for them which only served to fuel my jealousy toward kids who got to ride around in a miniaturized version of Bigfoot.

Little Cooper and Ziggy, the son and daughter of Cory and Jeremy Newton-Smith, have no such problems. They have their own Power Wheels to share, and it is something rather unique and special. They're not hitting three miles per hour in an Escalade, Mini Cooper or Barbie's Corvette. Oh no… They're got their very own MAD MAX: FURY ROAD War Rig… and I want it.

So what if my grown ass probably couldn't even kneel in the damn thing? You mean to tell me you wouldn't try your hardest to squeeze yourself in there as best as you could, if for no other reason than to say you got to move 15 feet before breaking a version of this awesome vehicle? That's what I thought.

Cory and Jeremy got their hands on a pair of second-hand Power Wheels (including one of those aforementioned Barbie’s cars) and then transformed it into a FURY ROAD replica that wields four electric motors and also includes boasts power steering, seating for two, a keyed ignition, sound effects including a truck’s air horn, and an iPhone override that allows it to be steered remotely from a smartphone.

Hmmm… On second thought, these people may have too much time on their hands.

They did once turn a stroller into a DeLorean and built a mini Ecto-1 for their kids to ride around in, so… yeah.

They also dressed their kids up for Halloween as Mad Max and Furiosa, which I get the feeling wasn't exactly the children's choice. And, if it was, come on… I believe we can all agree a four-year-old and an 11-month-old probably shouldn't be watching FURY ROAD.

Either way, it doesn't change the fact that this War Rig is pretty sweet for the right driver, and by that, I mean me… so buckle up. It's time to go for a ride.
