Icelandic rock band Sigur Rós will have a cameo in the fourth season of Game of Thrones

Some of Game of Thrones is filmed in Iceland, so why not have a cameo from one of the more popular bands from the country? EW has learned that the group Sigur Rós will appear in the fourth season of Game of Thrones, although it isn't revealed who they will be playing in the episode. Apparently a couple of the showrunners are big fans of Sigur Rós and would listen to their music while filming in Iceland.

This isn't the first time members of a famous band have had cameos on Game of Thrones: the singer for Snow Patrol and the drummer for Coldplay both appeared in the third season for HBO's hit show. I first discovered Sigur Rós back in 2003 with the album ( ), and some of their music is absolutely beautiful. You can check out one of my favorite Sigur Rós songs below.

The fourth season of Game of Thrones will start airing spring of 2014.

Extra Tidbit: The bands The Hold Steady and The National are featured on the soundtrack for Game of Thrones with songs inspired by lyrics in George R.R. Martin's novels.
