If Ron Perlman is free, he will have a role in At the Mountains of Madness

Some at some point in time decided to throw out Ron Perlman's name when it came to casting for AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS.

Not sure who started this rumor, but the important thing is that Guillermo del Toro is addressing it. Is there a place for Perlman in the film? Del Toro says, "All I can tell you is if Ron Perlman is free, he will be in. I wrote a part for him. He read it and if everything falls in place, Ron Perlman has a role in it written specifically for him." Rejoice!

Del Toro then kindly talks about the character he wrote for Perlman, "Ron plays Larson, the sort of dog guy, the guy that cares for the dogs and the sled — the part of the expedition that is dog sleds. It's a fantastic character. I really love him. He's sort of a pragmatic guy, doesn't care about science or the mythology or the cosmology. He just is a hard-boiled Nordic man, and it is written specifically for him."

So there you have it. Perlman, want a part in this Del Toro film? Sure he does.

If you want to see Del Toro talk about it himself, check out the video below.

Extra Tidbit: There's also another really cool interview with Del Toro on the original work from Lovecraft, more monster creature talk, and how he wants it all to play out. To check out out head here. (NYT via STYD)
