When the first trailer for LUCY hit, I wasn't having any of it. LIMITLESS meets X-MEN right? I'm not the first to point it out, but after watching this new trailer, I would like to be the last. It looks like a fantastic feast for the senses and while having similar traits of those two movies, it's starting to stand in its own shadow.
The talented and sexy Scarlett Johansson kicks everyone's ass in the new action thriller from writer/director Luc Besson (LA FEMME NIKITA, THE PROFESSIONAL, THE FIFTH ELEMENT). She plays Lucy, a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, who is forced to work as a drug mule for the mob. They implant a new super drug that she is supposed to take somewhere in the world, but the substance inadvertently leaks into her system, converting her into a superhuman.
Lucy absorbs knowledge instantaneously, moves objects with her mind, and doesn't feel pain or discomfort. Yup, sounds like drugs to me. That or Black Widow with actual superpowers, either way I’m there.
LUCY opens August 8th 2014.
