Interview: Paul director Greg Mottola!

I somewhat infamously lobbied for Greg Mottola, director of two of my favorite coming-of-age stories of the past 10 years in SUPERBAD and ADVENTURELAND, to get the director’s gig on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, which is really a coming-of-age story wrapped in an action flick. Mottola has proved his chops with his earlier films and has now shown he can handle both comedy and big budget FX in PAUL.

I got a chance to speak with Mottola recently and we spoke about the challenges of shooting a character entirely in CG, what that means to the ability to improv and whether he’s ready to return to the world of indie films. PAUL hits theaters this Friday!
