Jack Black and Tim Robbins head up the trailer for HBO’s satire The Brink

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

From series creator Roberto Benabib (Weeds, Ally McBeal) comes the half-hour dark comedy series, The Brink. This satire will focus on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: Walter Larson (Tim Robbins), the US Secretary of State, Alex Talbot (Jack Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer and Zeke Tilson (Pablo Schreiber), an ace Navy fighter pilot. This show will hit start the same day as season 2 of True Detective, and you can check out the first teaser trailer below.

While Tim Robbins isn’t exactly known for his comedic prowess, I feel his demeanor adds to the genre quite nicely. It’ll also be great to see Jack Black working with some material that has some bite. HBO has shown some commercial success in the political genre with Veep, but The Brink already has a head start with a well-known cast. With True Detective starting up the same night, looks like HBO is the place to be on June 21st!

The Brink will premiere on June 21, 2015 on HBO.
