James Corden serenades Jeff Goldblum with ‘thank u, jeff’ parody performance

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

On Wednesday night's episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, the late night host, actor and all around showman, James Corden, debuted a parody of Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" for his guest and human meme, Jeff Goldblum, titled "thank, u, jeff". The clip begins with both Corden and Goldblum greeting one another in a backstage Green Room. Soon thereafter, Corden begins to sing to his tall-drink-of-water guest, before launching an all out musical video to the tune of Ariana Grande's smash hit single. As the video continues, Corden reveals his personal Goldblum-centric scrapbook, a group of young backup dancers (think BTS dressed as a variety of Goldblum's most popular film characters), as well as shots from some of the suave actor's best work. Throughout the hilarious video, you can definitely catch homage's to comedies like MEAN GIRLS, 13 GOING ON 30, BRING ON, and LEGALLY BLONDE.

As Corden prances from scene to scene, you can hear the OCEAN'S 8 star playfully sing the lyrics "He taught me love. He taught me patience. He taught me pain. Jeff Goldblum's amazing. He's our silver fox, with black thick-rimmed glasses, the way that he talks, will charm off your asses, and for that I say Thank you…Jeff. Thank you…Jeff, Thank you…jeff, he's so freaking scared of that T-Rex."

Corden then continues, "He does more than just act. He plays a mean jazz piano. And when he tickles those keys, I just don't understand bro. I've interviewed a lot of celebs, forget the rest. Cuz I think Jeff Goldblum is my favorite guest. He kills every scene, his skills are exacting, there's no better man, in character acting. He's over 6 feet, he's the complete package. Look at him here, in this leather jacket."

I've got to tip my hat to Corden, as I think this is definitely one of his best parody bits to date. Sometimes, I try to imagine what it must be like to be in Jeff Goldblum's shoes. From what I can gather, the man is living his best life right now. Honestly, it feels as if every time I turn around, someone is erecting a statue in his honor, offering high praise for his new Jazz album, or begging him to get back behind the wheel of a delicious food truck enterprise. Cheers to you, Jeff. I hope you're having a great time being everyone's favorite silver fox. You certainly have built yourself quite the legacy throughout the years. I think I speak for everyone herel when I say that we're looking forward to your next endeavor, and wish you the best in all things. Keep on keepin' on, Daddio.
