Jeremy Renner is the king of tag in first trailer for Tag

If you’re wondering what Jeremy Renner has been doing is so much more important that he couldn’t be on the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR poster, he has a very valid excuse: He’s been playing the most epic game of tag that has ever existed. In the first trailer for the upcoming comedy, TAG, Renner stars alongside Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Hannibal Buress, and Jake Johnson, who are all friends who have been playing the same game of tag for 30 years. Renner is the untaggable king of the game, and the other four set out to take down the legend.

Here is a more detailed synopsis:

One month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade—risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry “You’re It!”   This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming…and he’s ready.  Based on a true story, “Tag” shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Annabelle Wallis, Isla Fisher, Rashida Jones, Leslie Bibb and Brian Dennehy, making for a pretty great ensemble gathering. The true story that the movie is based on is both silly and endearing, and the movie looks like it embraces the ridiculousness of it all.  The movie will be hard to ignore given that cast, and, of course, because the end of the movie will no doubt tease the sequel – HIDE AND SEEK.

TAG hits theaters June 15.
