JJ Abrams posts emotional photo as Star Wars: Episode IX wraps shooting

While Star Wars fans across the internet are focused on nothing more than hypothesizing the potential title of STAR WARS: EPISODE IX could be (and some throwing fits about not knowing what it is yet) J.J. Abrams and his team have been focused on finishing up the final entry in the Skywalker saga. The movie will bid an emotional farewell to the cast of character’s we’ve known over the years, and Abrams posted a tear-jerking photo of his main cast – Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac – hugging it out as principal photography officially wraps.

Abrams posted the photo with the caption, “It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX.  There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast.  I’m forever indebted to you all.” We don’t know the precise plot details of the movie quite yet, but it looks like the story takes audiences back to Rey’s (Ridley) home of Jakku – or some other desert planet.

Boyega also posted some nice words, saying, "That’s a wrap on Star Wars episode 9 and the end to a chapter of my life that I couldn’t be more thankful for. What a process! It really has been a joy to be in these movies surrounded by amazing people. JJ thank you for making my dreams come true."

There’s not much in the way of detail here outside of hairstyles if that’s what you’re hoping to find, but this is nonetheless a sweet photo that shows the kind of bond the cast formed across making these three movies. Isaac, in particular, looks especially emotional, and chances are many of us will have that same expression on our face come the end of the movie.

The start of shooting commenced back in August, and Abrams took to social media to post a photo of the interior of a ship. Of course, everything about the movie is being kept on the hush-hush, but with the posting of this photo maybe we are getting close to something as small as a title reveal. It was back in January 2017 that we got the title for the last movie (THE LAST JEDI), so maybe we're getting close to a similar reveal. Regardless of promotional timetables, this is a sweet photo that may tide us over for some time. What more do you need to get the feels going than these buds hugging it out?
