John Constantine heads to Starling City to guest-star in Arrow’s 4th season

While I never got around to watching the series myself, I know that many of you were fans of NBC's Constantine; particularly of Matt Ryan's portrayal of the title character. Sadly the show was canned after a mere thirteen episodes but never fear, the character of John Constantine will return in the fourth season of CW's Arrow.

Arrow star Stephen Amell had previously teased that the show's upcoming fourth season would deal with "magic and mysticism," thus Arrow producer Wendy Mercle was asked to comment on the possibilities of bringing John Constantine to the show. At the time they felt optimistic that they would to able to secure both the character and Matt Ryan and today the CW confirmed that Matt Ryan will indeed to making an appearance on Arrow. Matt Ryan will guest-star in the fifth episode, titled "Haunted," where he will provide “critical support to Oliver (Stephen Amell) when arrows aren’t enough."

Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim commented on the news:

We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow, Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.

The fourth season of Arrow will premiere on October 7, 2015.
