Justice League: Latest teaser unites Batman and Superman once and for all

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Darkseid is… speaking in the new "Batman and Superman" teaser for Zack Snyder's Justice League. That's right, Darkseid stans, it's time to open up your ears and let the dulcet tones of the big, bad DC villain invade your soul. Zack Snyder is expanding Darkseid's role in his version of Justice League, with actor Ray Porter providing both the motion-capture bodywork and voicework for the legendary villain. Naturally, Darkseid's voice is low and carries a menacing tone. Personally, I would expect nothing less from such an iconic figure in the DCEU, and I'm sure that fans are going to love it.

In the trailer, we find Batman standing atop his Bat-Tank, which looks positively badass, and I kind of wish he'd lend me the keys for an evening. After a montage of voiceovers featuring various characters from across the DCEU, a black-suited Superman helps Batman onto a concrete platform, where the rest of the Justice League are waiting.

"I went through a few different vocal gymnastics trying to figure out the voice. I will admit I didn’t know the character incredibly well right up to the point of being cast," Porter told LightCast Podcast. "It was never something I was incredibly aware of…so I didn’t know all of the canon. Fortunately, I happened to be on a set with people like Zack and Chris [Terrio]…I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who understands all of the weird concatenations of that canon better than those people. So there was always that steady information."

Shortly thereafter, Porter was asked if he has plans to be a part of Ava DuVernay's New Gods, to which he explained, "No, I have not. I know a lot of people on Twitter have been making noise about it and I'm really grateful. Obviously, I would love to hear from Ava about New Gods, but I also respect that Ava's got a vision for this project. If I'm not a part of that vision, it's just the way it is and that's okay. My hope is that it's something the fans are going to love as well."

Well, there you have it, folks. From Darkseid's mouth to your eyeballs. Personally, I'm looking forward to DuVernay exploring new horizons with New Gods, and I hope that it's something unique and exciting. That said, I wouldn't say no to Porter joining the cast. Also, I don't see how they make that movie without Darkseid, but that's not for me to say. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Meanwhile, Zack Snyder's Justice League hits HBO on March 18th. Is your body ready? Is your bladder? Choose your concessions wisely, my friends.
