Karl Urban still looks really unhappy as Judge Dredd

He might be the law, but he definitely looks really unhappy to embrace that idea.

Let’s see…the only thing from the new JUDGE DREDD, titled DREDD, that we’ve gotten is photos of Karl Urban in costume and some set photos of futuristic vehicles. Okay, I get the idea. That’s a big ass helmet and Dredd’s facial expression never changes. Can I see something else please? Like, I don’t know, some footage?

The original adaptation of JUDGE DREDD was by no means anything spectacular, but it’s entertaining as hell. I’ll be honest here– I really think that this might be just as entertaining due to the writing talents of Alex Garland (28 DAYS LATER, SUNSHINE). The thing that will make or break this is Urban’s version of Dredd.

Synopsis: DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.
