Kevin Feige says Spider-Man: Far From Home has multiple meanings

Yesterday Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, revealed the title for the new SPIDER-MAN movie: FAR FROM HOME. Fans immediately started pondering what the title could mean, with most coming to the conclusion it relates to the fact Spidey will be taking a trip abroad this time around. But according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige the title, much like HOMECOMING, has several meanings.

The movie titan was speaking with CinemaBlend recently as part of the ANT-MAN AND THE WASP promotional tour when he was asked about the new title. Though he played coy like always, he hinted that the title indeed has numerous meanings we will come to discover.

[It's] similar [to Spider-Man: Homecoming]. I won't say what the meanings are, but we enjoy that title because, like Homecoming, it is full of alternate meaning. And we liked continuing the 'Home' thing, with the little Spidey symbol in the 'Home.'

The traveling angle fits in quite literally when it comes to the title, as having Peter Parker (Holland) going overseas will, indeed, place him far from home. But what other meanings could it have? The character did bite the dust at the end of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, so perhaps experiencing that only to come back may take a serious emotional toll on him, taking him on some sort of deep, personal journey. Or, as a more exciting scenario, maybe the adventure will take him through other dimensions or realms. Now that he’s met Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) anything is possible.

So what do you all think it could mean? Perhaps the “Home” angle will play into the third SPIDER-MAN movie as well, giving the trilogy a running theme. Taking Parker to some other dimension would be the more entertaining angle the movie could take and would put him in a place where he would have to use his smarts to get himself back home. On the other hand, maybe taking him into space in one movie and then taking him to a new dimension in another is a little much.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME arrives July 5, 2019.
