Filmmaker Kevin Macdonald (THE EAGLE, TOUCHING THE VOID) has had a couple of misfires in the narrative movie world, but his documentary work has pretty much been top notch stuff.

His latest is LIFE IN A DAY, a global YouTube video project put together by he and Scott brothers Ridley and Tony that showcases user-created footage from people all around the world during a single day. The recently released trailer below showcases something that looks to be brimming with heart-warming humanity and emotion, and not so much with stuff like Tourette’s Guy… something I think we all secretly wished it would be. Oh well.

LIFE IN A DAY opens in theaters July 24th.

Synopsis: Life in a Day is a historic global event to create the first user generated feature film documenting a single day on Earth. It’s a unique time capsule that will tell future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July 2010. On that day, people around the world captured a moment of their lives on camera and over 80,000 videos were uploaded to YouTube.

Academy Award winning director Kevin Macdonald and producer Ridley Scott have teamed up to tell a highly emotional story from the submitted footage.
