Kristen Wiig says she’s not returning to Bridesmaids

BRIDESMAIDS was a huge surprise hit, but star, co-writer and co-producer Kristen Wiig isn’t planning on returning to it. 

“We’re not planning on doing one,” she recently told E! Online. “We had a special time making the first one, but we’re really excited to try something else.”

Refreshing to hear in this world where people just keep doing the same thing over and over. This might settle the matter once and for all, but we can bet people will still be asking her about it for a while to come.

Wiig also dropped hints about her latest project with her BRIDESMAIDS cowriter Annie Mumolo, which is supposed to be a script that’s not as raunchy- “It’s going to be a little bit of a different tone,” Wiig said, “but it’s going to be a comedy, for sure.”

Since Universal already said they could go forward with the sequel without Wiig, does this bode badly for fans of the film?
