Kurt Russell still needs to check out Guardians of the Galaxy

While the internet got giddy over the prospect of Kurt Russell joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Star-Lord's mysterious father in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, there was one person who didn't seem to be getting all that excited – Kurt Russell. And, before you start to question how that could possibly be, let me fill you in on a little secret: Kurt Russell hasn't seen the first GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY yet.

Russell dropped that truth bomb on the latest episode of Happy Sad Confused, when he was asked about the rumors and his thoughts on the original film.

I literally got a phone call two days ago about this. I’ve never seen ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. I don’t know anything about it. I’m one of the four idiots that’s never seen it. Many times I’ve heard ‘That’s a really fun movie, a really good movie [with] great characters.’ I don’t know it.

I didn’t realize that the man [James Gunn] had written and directed it. So we talked to each other on the phone and I just had to be honest and say, ‘Thank you for considering me, I have to read it, and I have to watch the movie because I can’t bring anything for you. I’ve got nothing to offer here.’ So, I’m amazed to get asked about this because everybody knows more about it than I do.

So, if you're wondering how those Russell rumblings might go as far as bringing him aboard the cast, it's really going to depend on the holiday family viewing that goes on at the Russell household over the break and whether or not GOTG captures his imagination. Looks like someone won't be tuning into the full A CHRISTMAS STORY marathon on TNT this year.
