Later for Crazies

There’s generally two “seasons” when horror movies thrive — early in the year (Jan.-Feb.) and right after summer (Sept.-Oct.).

The remake of THE CRAZIES is sliding from one to another, fleeing its initially planned release on this September 25th all the way to February 26th, 2010.

It’s unknown whether this shift was just to give the production more time to prepare the lunacy for the masses, or it it was to escape other high-profile September releases like SURROGATES and JENNIFER’S BODY for the more relaxed February schedule.

The movie, an update of George Romero’s early terror tale, comes from director Breck Eisner (SAHARA) and stars Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Danielle Panabaker (MR. BROOKS) and Joe Anderson (THE RUINS). It will presumably follow the same basic story: a deadly virus contaminates a town’s water supply and turns the residents insane with hostility, while the locals and military attempt to contain the rage-infected victims.
