Liam Neeson doesn’t obey the law in A Walk Among the Tombstones trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Although the trailer for A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES plays out like a gritty prequel to TAKEN, it's looking pretty sweet. Director Scott Frank, who gave us the underrated gem THE LOOKOUT, tackles this dark thriller based on Lawrence Block's series of mystery novels.

The movie stars Liam Neeson who is once again playing outside the law; probably not even declaring his earning on his tax returns the little scamp. And good for him, otherwise we wouldn’t have an annual Neeson movie to drag the ladies to.

Here's the official synopsis:

Liam Neeson is Matt Scudder, an ex-NYPD cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator operating just outside the law. When Scudder reluctantly agrees to help a heroin trafficker hunt down the men who kidnapped and then brutally murdered his wife, the PI learns that this is not the first time these men have committed this sort of twisted crime…nor will it be the last. Blurring the lines between right and wrong, Scudder races to track the deviants through the backstreets of New York City before they kill again.

Other than giving away a little too much in the trailer, consider me sold. I've seen everything Neeson has been in and I’m not going to stop now while he's still turning in some great work. He's one of our greatest talents who seemingly can do it all; one weekend a comedy like A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, the next, he's kicking ass and probably forgetting names. Dudes 61 years old, he's allowed.

Check out the first images and poster below; A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES opens in theaters on September 19th 2014.
