Little Fockers a go?

MEET THE PARENTS was a semi-genius dark comedy that deserved all the critical and commercial success it reaped. MEET THE FOCKERS was...well, an obvious way for all involved to cash in on the success of the first film. Now it appears that the long rumored LITTLE FOCKERS movie is moving ahead. John Hamburg, who wrote and directed I LOVE YOU, MAN and wrote the previous MEET THE films, is writing a new script now and stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Robert De Niro are currently in negotiations to star. While it looks like a good chunk of the gang will be returning (somewhere Teri Polo is doing backflips), one person who won't be coming back is director Jay Roach. He's concentrating on the DreamWorks comedy DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS (with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd) so Universal is looking for a replacement. Apparently not convinced that Hamburg could just direct this himself (which I don't fully understand given the buzz surrounding ILYM), the studio has a shortlist of candidates that include Paul Weitz (ABOUT A BOY), David Wain (ROLE MODELS) and Peyton Reed (YES MAN). Things are moving ahead quickly on the project and assuming there are no roadblocks (like common sense), filming could begin as quickly as this summer.
