As the coronavirus pandemic rages on, it feels as if the need to secure prime streamer content is at an all-time high. After all, you've got to keep the quarantined masses entertained, right? Perhaps that's why HBO Max is taking a "go big or go home" approach to debuting top-tier content on their service. It's been reported by Deadline that WarnerMedia has acquired the major world rights to the Doug Liman-directed heist movie/romantic comedy Lockdown, starring Anne Hathaway and Ben Stiller.

Joining the aforementioned duo for Liman's latest is Chiwetel Ejiofor, Stephen Merchant, Lucy Boynton, Ben Kingsley, Mindy Kaling, and Dule Hill. The film, which has a script penned by Steven Wright, provided Liman with a chance to work with an impressive ensemble cast in an intimate setting. Modestly-budgeted, Lockdown found a way to shoot in London during a time when film production is a dangerous and expensive endeavor. Be that as it may, Liman plans to use the world's real-life lockdown circumstances to the film's advantage, as the plot and caper will be framed around the globe's current and extreme circumstances.

How do you plan a heist during a lockdown? Is the risk worth the reward? These are just a few of the questions the characters in Lockdown will have to ask themselves while plotting their caper. I'll tell you this much, if it's money the group plans on stealing, you can count me out. The last thing I'd want to touch during lockdown is a bunch of bills that have been in recent circulation. There ain't a hazmat suit secure enough that would get me to go there, no sir.
