Logan Lerman to play Spider-Man! Wait...no he's not!

Late on Saturday night, HitFix posted a story that said PERCY JACKSON star Logan Lerman was "almost 100% locked" to star in Sony's SPIDER-MAN reboot. Wow, we escaped this SPIDER-MAN reboot with minimal casting drama! Wait, what's this? Sony is going on the record as saying Lerman definitively is not Spider-Man? Oy vey.

Of course, studios are frequently denying online reports that usually turn out to be true. It happens all the time. But rarely are they this definitive about it. Like em or not, Deadline has pretty solid sources at Sony who went public with the fact that not only is Lerman not cast in SPIDER-MAN that he isn't even a contender and was never on the list of possible candidates. This, obviously, directly conflicts with the HitFix report that Lerman IS Spider-Man.

HitFix reconnected with their source late yesterday and are sticking with their story (what else to do at this point?). How will this all play out? I guess like so many times before, we just wait and see until we get an official press release stating the news. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was Lerman (I know Drew McWeeny and he wouldn't post a scoop if it wasn't properly vetted) but then again, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Lerman.

How do you want it to play out? Do you want Lerman to get the gig or would you rather them look for another actor?

Extra Tidbit: According to AICN, the working title for the movie is SPIDER-MAN BEGIN AGAIN. Not a great first start...
