Loki season finale ratings top WandaVision’s finale

Loki, season finale, ratings, WandaVision

Loki came out of the gate breaking records for Disney+ and it appears that the series ended its first season run in exactly the same fashion. According to Samba TV, the show set a new record for the largest audience over its first five days for its finale episode.

Per Samba TV, "Episode 6: For All Time, Always", pulled in a massive 2.5 million views between Wednesday, July 14 and Saturday, July 18. This included viewership of 1.9 million from the U.S. With these numbers, the finale episode tops that of WandaVision, which pulled in 1.4 million U.S. viewers, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which registered 1.7 million U.S. viewers over the same five-day initial period of their runs.

Loki appeared to dominate across the globe as well. In the U.K., Loki drew in 300,000 views against WandaVision's 209,000 and Falcon's 254,000. Germany saw Loki pulling in 96,000 viewers against the 42,000 and 78,000 for WandaVision and Falcon, respectively. Loki also pulled ahead in Australia with 12,000 views versus the 7,000 and 10,000 views for WandaVision and Falcon measured over the five days.

So why was Loki more successful? I can only imagine that WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier helped build momentum for Disney+'s third Marvel series but the fact that it had a less predictable storyline than The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, made itself appear more unique to fans seeking bit more from the universe. Tom Hiddleston is also very popular as the titular character and he has been a fan favorite since making his first appearance in Thor back in 2011.

It should be noted that Samba TV is a third-party service that doesn't reveal the total viewership for the streaming shows they measure but it's one of the closest things we have to get a glimpse to how well these shows are doing since Disney, much like other outlets, doesn't tend reveal their viewership data. Since Samba TV is showing that Loki performed so well, it gives the indication that the number of views would be significantly higher if Disney made their numbers public.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as the titular God of Mischief and it takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. He is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a "time-variant", or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. The series also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, and Tara Strong.

Are YOU surprised the Loki season finale topped the final episodes of WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Solider?
